Khmer Literature and Culture Festival

As a Cambodian youth, its our obligation, our duty to preserve our beautiful culture and language that was passed down from our ancestors. The culture that is soft and well-structure. It is important that we, the new generation should do something to not letting it fade. The less worry and care to it, the more chance it will be lose and forget about. 

On the 24th of May 2019, all of the Liger Leadership Academy students had worked and conducted a fruitful festival that contained many things that related to our culture. I was one of the lead role in the organizing team. I felt so happy to be apart of this culture and this team that trying to preserve our wonderful history. 

Everything was organized by every single one of the Liger students. We got funded from the USA embassy, Plantation Hotel and Sousdey Cambodia. Without them this event won’t be able to happen. As well as thank you to the monks, the speakers, the judges and everyone who attended the event it incredibly honor to be hosting you. 

 

At the end of the day everyone finished up their booths with smiles because we never thought that this festival will be successful like the way it turned out. More than 200 students turned up at our school with smile and curiosity. I am hoping that we can host this as an annually event again every year and we hope to see more people come in.

Khmer Poem Activity

This is  a love poem by connecting my experience playing ultimate Frisbee. This isn’t a true story but I thought it will entertain reader through my writing by taking my real experience to connect about a girl and a boy build up their love by playing Frisbee. So this was one of the poem that I created in my Khmer class. Without anything in mind, I have translated it into English, so that will help you to understand.  Please Enjoy!

កំណាព្យ ហ្រ្វាសប៊ីស្នេហ៍ខ្ញុំ

ហ្រ្វាសប៊ីដើមចម​នៃស្នេហ៍ខ្ញុំ         ខ្ញុំសើចខ្ញុំយំព្រោះរូបអ្នក

អ្នកហោះឥតឈប់គ្មានរលាក់        ខ្ញុំគប់ពីរនាក់ក្រោមថ្ងៃក្តៅ ។

បងបោះអូនចាប់យ៉ាងត្រសង       ត្រកងបីបងឥតម៉ងសៅ

យើងសើចសប្បាយក្រោមកំដៅ       តម្រង់ទិសដៅនៃជីវិត ។

បងលើកដៃគប់អូនរូងចាំ          មើលទិសបងដាំផ្តាំដួងចិត្ត

បងនាំអូនលេងយ៉ាងជិតស្និត        មិនដូចចៅចិត្រនិងធាវី ។

ហ្រ្វាសប៊ីនាំយើងអោយជួបគ្នា        ឆ្ពោះតាមនាវារសាត់ទី

ស្នេហ៍បងនិងអូនគឺគ្មានពីរ         ស្រឡាញ់ដល់ទីជីវិតសូន្យ ។
Frisbee is the reason of my love story        I laugh and cry because of it

It always fly in the air smoothly             I throw with him under the hot sun.

He throw, I catch in our pace                 Take care of it without any worries

We both laugh under the heat                  Directing our goals of life.

He lift his hand and throw                    Looking at the direction he's pointing

We played together with happiness             Not like Chao Chet and Vitheavy.           

Frisbee bring two of us to meet               Just like the ship is traveling

Our love will remain only one                 Love forever until our life vanish.

សុន្ទរកថា – Khmer Class Assignment

As part of the essential classes, Khmer literacy is one them. Over the past seven weeks I worked to conduct a writing a speech sample about different topic. I was working with my other three friends and we has finished a long speech that talked about the project with ecology. This writing assignment help me to learn that as I grow up this speech will help me to prepare when I need to talk to the public.

សុភមង្គលមានន័យថាមង្គលល្អ សេចក្តីសុខ សេចក្តីចំរើន។

តើសុភមង្គលក្នុងគ្រួសារនោះមានន័យដូចម្តេចទៅ?
សុភមង្គលក្នុងគ្រួសារមានន័យថា គ្រួសារមានសេចក្តីសុខនិងសេចក្តីចម្រើន ហើយគ្រួសាររស់នៅមានភាពសុខដុមរមនាគ្មានអំពើហិង្សានិងគ្មានការរើសអើងចំពោះកូនប្រុសនិងកូនស្រី។ ជាទូទៅសេចក្តីសុខមានពីរប្រភេទ គឺសេចក្តីសុខផ្លូវកាយនិងសេចក្តីសុខផ្លូវចិត្ត។សេចក្តីសុខផ្លូវកាយគឺសុខនូវរាងកាយ ការគ្មានអំពើហិង្សានិងការគ្មានការរំលោភបំពាន។ ចំណែកឯសេចក្តីសុខផ្លូវចិត្តគឺចិត្តស្ងប់ មានអារម្មណ៍ល្អ គ្មានការប្រមាតមើលងាយពីអ្នកដ៏ទៃ។​​

សុភមង្គលក្នុងគ្រួសារគឺការរស់នៅក្នុងគ្រួសារជាមូយកររួបរួមគ្នានិងាការសាមគ្គីគ្នានៅក្នុងសមាជិកគ្រួសារ។ គ្រួសារនីមួយៗសិតតែចង់បានសុភមង្គលសំរាប់គ្រួសាររបស់ខ្លួនហើយក៏ចង់បានសេចក្តីសុខក្នុងគ្រូសារខ្លួនផងដែរ។

២. តើអ្វីទៅជាសុភមង្គល?
